Game 5 determined the series, and Philadelphia jumped ahead 2-0 early in the first inning.
The Rays were able to tie before rain caused the game to be postponed in the sixth inning. The last innings were not played until 2 days later, and after a hard fought battle Philadelphia outscored Tampa Bay 4 runs to 3. The Phillies defeated the Rays 4 games to 1, becoming the 2008 World Series Champion.
